Two Jewish men have been stabbed in London in what police has declared a “terrorist incident”, following a series of attacks targeting Jewish sites in the area.
Police said a 45-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men – aged 34 and 76 – were stabbed in Golders Green, home to a large Jewish population, shortly after 11am on Wednesday, UK time.
The suspect – who police have confirmed is a British national born in Somalia – is also accused of trying to stab officers. No officers were injured in the attack.
CCTV footage captured the moment one of the victims was seen standing alone near a bus stop before the suspect approached and lunged towards his face.
Another clip shows the moment two police officers took down the suspect in the middle of a road.
One officer appeared to taser the man, who fell to the ground.
“Drop the knife,” one of the officers was heard yelling.
