A man armed with a shotgun charged through security at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25, 2026, prompting the evacuation of President Trump, the First Lady, and senior officials.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents — striking one officer in the chest — before being tackled and detained.
Cole Allen, a Caltech engineering graduate and teacher, had travelled from his home in Torrance, California, allegedly to carry out the attack.
Minutes before the breach, he emailed a manifesto to family members outlining a tiered target list of administration officials and so-called “rules of engagement.”
His brother in Connecticut alerted police moments before the shooting began.
