‘Let’s keep talking’: Interim agreements may define US–Iran strategy as major deal unlikely

Strategic Analysis Australian Director Michael Shoebridge weighs in on the potential of a deal being struck between the US and Iran.

“I don’t think they will, but there could be something between that and just continuing,” Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“Maybe, they’ll agree to a multi-year freeze to the program, because frankly, they’ve got to rebuild a whole lot of stuff before they do anything much more.

“Maybe we are not going to see a giant Iran-US peace deal, but a series of interim deals, like open the straits, remove the blockade, freeze the nuclear program for a number of years and let’s keep talking.”
