Calls grow to end Welcome to Country on Anzac Day after booing controversy
Sky News host James Macpherson weighs in on the booing which took place during the Welcome to Country at Anzac Day ceremonies.
“People weren’t booing Ray Minniecon. They were booing the highly political, racially divisive ceremony Ray Minniecon was performing,” Mr Macpherson said.
“People didn’t boo or disrupt during the moment of silence. They booed during the part where they were being called visitors in their own country.
“Scrap Welcome to Country ceremonies on Anzac Day. Anzac Day has survived 108 years without a Welcome to Country. I think it’ll be okay.”
