Suspected shooter in custody after Donald Trump rushed from Washington event | ABC NEWS

US President Donald Trump says a man charged a security checkpoint armed with multiple weapons and was brought down by secret service agents at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Speaking at a press conference at the White House, President Trump says one officer was shot but was wearing a bullet proof vest.

He says he’s spoken to the agent and he’s “doing great”.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche says multiple charges are expected to be filed soon against the man in custody.

The dinner has been called off for tonight but President Trump says it will be rescheduled within 30 days.
