April 25 marks 20 years since the deadly Beaconsfield mine collapse in northern Tasmania.
Miners Brant Webb and Todd Russell were working more than 900m below the surface when a small earthquake triggered a rock fall, killing their colleague Larry Knight.
Miraculously, the two miners survived two weeks trapped underground while rescuers worked frantically to free them. The men were finally brought to safety on May 9, punching the air in triumph when they reached the surface. #beaconsfield #tasmania #mine #mining #history
