The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking for Australians from all backgrounds to work the guillotines.
Yes, you read that right — but those hired for the role of guillotine operator won’t be doing anything you might associate with the infamous French contraption of the same name.
They’ll be responsible for “removing glued bindings from high volumes of paper forms” as part of the ABS’ plan to digitise its data ahead of the 2026 Census, Australia’s five-yearly snapshot of the nation’s changing demography.
