Trump ‘fully supports’ Kurdish groups joining war against Iran | ABC NEWS
Two senior sources in the Kurdish coalition told the ABC they will enter Iran once they have enough US and Israeli air support.
Kurds are one of the largest ethnic groups in the world, living in Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. They make up about 10 per cent of Iran’s population and have long sought autonomy.
US President Donald Trump says he fully supports the Kurds joining the conflict but has not said if the US will provide air support.
Former US Deputy National Security Advisor James Jeffrey said the push for Kurdish involvement is a ‘propaganda gambit’ from the US.
Dr Martin Kear from the University of Sydney echoes this sentiment and says it is unrealistic for Kurdish troops to take control of Iran.
