Disturbing CCTV footage has been released as the desperate search for a US TV host’s mother enters its second week.
New footage posted by US Today show presenter Savannah Guthrie on social media today shows an armed suspect outside the home of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who authorities believe was abducted from her home in the early hours of February 1.
Oone security expert claims the chilling footage also exposes the suspect as a “rookie” – someone who thought disabling the security camera outside the property would cover their tracks.
Longtime private investigator Andy Kay told Page Six that one detail that previously appeared to be a setback in the case – Guthrie not having an active subscription for her Nest security camera – likely ended up working in the authorities’ favour once the suspect had disconnected the camera.
“The cameras will record to the servers as long as they have internet. According to Nest, without a subscription, usually they are quickly overwritten by next images. But if the camera is disconnected, there should be nothing to overwrite on the server,” he said.
Kay also noted that the suspected kidnapper’s weapon appeared to be holstered to their pants incorrectly – another “rookie” movie.
