Melbourne’s CBD office vacancy has reached 19%, the highest rate in decades and well above the national average of 15.9%. Nearly one in five office spaces are sitting empty, making it the worst performing capital city in Australia. The Property Council attributes this crisis to work-from-home arrangements and warns the Allan Government’s plans to enshrine remote work in law are undermining confidence in the city.
