Skydiver survives terrifying mid-air plane entanglement | 7NEWS

A skydiver preparing for a 16-person formation jump near Tully in far north Queensland became entangled in the aircraft’s tail wing when his reserve parachute accidentally deployed at 15,000 feet. The skydiver cut himself free with a hook knife and landed safely, whilst the pilot struggled to control the damaged aircraft before successfully landing after making a mayday call. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigation found the plane’s horizontal stabiliser was damaged and emphasised the importance of skydivers carrying hook knives.
