Leading economist warns of potential rate hikes in early 2026

EQ Economics Managing Director Warren Hogan warns a rate hike would “probably” hit borrowers in February.

“The actual problem was the narrow path strategy, that is, they didn’t raise rates enough to get the inflation under control,” Mr Hogan told Sky News Australia.

“That’s what’s been confirmed with the economic data of the last three months. We not only never got inflation to their target, and this is four years down the track, but now it’s rising again.”
