National Parks firefighter John Lohan, aged 59, was killed by a falling tree while checking on colleagues conducting a backburn at Nerong on the mid-north coast. He went into cardiac arrest after being struck and his family has released a statement describing the death as a profound shock. His loved ones remembered him as a great father, loving brother and wonderful friend who will be greatly missed.
