Alarming new figures show an ‘explosion’ in number of children being diagnosed with autism

Child psychologist Clare Rowe has spoken about the alarming new figures, which show the “explosion” in the number of Australians who receive NDIS funding.

“We have created a system whereby parents feel they must pursue an autism diagnosis just to get some basic help,” Ms Rowe told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“It blurs the line between genuine disability, which is what the NDIS is set up to support, and developmental variation.”
