Lionel Messi has said he doesn’t want to be “a burden” to the Argentina national football team at the 2026 World Cup.
Just seven months out from the tournament, the 38-year-old team captain said he may not compete if he doesn’t feel fit enough to defend Argentina’s title in North America.
“I’ll have to see it day by day, to see if I really see myself fit enough to be as I’d like to be and be able to participate,” he said.
