Putin calls Elon Musk a ‘genius’ during summit with African leaders

Russia is beginning to roll out its own version of Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system.

The Russian minister for digital development Maksut Shadayev claimed Russia now has more than 5,000 satellites up and running, although the actual number is close to 10,000, according to independent tracking site Orbital Radar.

Ukraine has used Starlink, developed by Musk’s SpaceX, throughout its war with Russia for drone operations and communications.

However, Kyiv complained earlier this month that speed restrictions have made it challenging to intercept Russian attack drones.

Musk later acknowledged Starlink had restricted Ukraine’s service and accused it of violating its terms of service by using it for military activity.
