Douglas Murray says Turning Point’s support is due to people wanting ‘real things on the table’

Author Douglas Murray claims the reason why Turning Point USA is gaining increasing numbers of followers is because young people want to “address their urge and desire for meaning in their lives”.

“There was an event in Mississippi just last week organised by Turning Point USA, and at this university, more than half the student body registered to attend the event,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“There were crowds growing in the street, queues forming from the break of day to the end of day to get into the event.

“They’ve realised that a lot of older conservatives effectively gave up on the younger generation.

“Turning Point and a few other organisations have realised … there are lots of reasons why young Americans, like young Australians, young Brits and others, should be voting to the right and should be interested in conservative policy.

“I’m very struck by the Christian element in parts of the young American right, and it’s part of what I see as being a deep hankering for real and substantial things to be back on the table again.”
