David Beckham receives knighthood from King Charles | ABC NEWS
Former England captain David Beckham has received a knighthood from King Charles in the presence of his wife, former Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham and his parents at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom.
The newly-knighted Sir David Beckham said he cried when he found out he would be knighted.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star played 115 matches for England including in three World Cup tournaments and captained the Three Lions for six years.
Beckham also became an ambassador for UNICEF and contributed to the King’s Foundation.
The positive publicity came a week after the British monarch stripped his brother Andrew of his royal title over links to the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
