‘We can threaten the tariffs again’: US accuses China of being ‘unreliable’
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has accused China of being an unreliable trade partner.
The comments come after a high-profile meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
A top priority for Washington in the talks had been ensuring the supply of rare earth minerals.
Mr Bessent is threatening the use of more tariffs if China considers shutting off exports of its rare earths.
“We can threaten the tariffs again, and we have plenty of things that we can hold back too,” he said.
