Independent candidate Catherine Connolly elected as new president of Ireland
Ireland has elected Independent candidate Catherine Connolly as their new president.
She secured 63 per cent of the vote and has vowed to be an “inclusive president”.
Ms Connolly will be the country’s tenth president and the third woman to occupy the office.
