Trump lands in Malaysia for ASEAN summit | ABC NEWS
US President Donald Trump has landed in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur for the ASEAN summit.
Trump will attend a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and witness the official signing ceremony of a Thailand-Cambodia peace treaty.
The US president has been coy about US tariffs on South East Asian economies despite ASEAN leaders being hopeful of securing better trade relations with the US during Mr Trump’s visit to the region.
The US leader’s one-week Asia tour consists of an expected meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
The pair are expected to discuss a trade deal as Beijing and Washington seek to avoid a trade war over Trump’s crippling Liberation Day tariffs.
