Two men have died in rough waters after being swept off a pier in Melbourne’s Frankston.
Emergency services winched the men back but were unable to revive them.
Frankston City mayor Kris Bolam sent his condolences, saying the tragic event is a reminder of the danger of severe weather events.
Victoria SES says its rescue crews responded to 1,400 calls for help, while 200 buildings, a tram and vehicles were reportedly damaged as the wild weather event battered the state.
