A 31-year-old accused car thief led police on a high-speed chase through Melbourne’s south-east suburbs, reaching speeds exceeding 200 kilometres per hour while driving on just three wheels after road spikes shredded his tyres. The pursuit began in Chadstone and continued through Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Mulgrave, Rowville and Wheelers Hill, with the vehicle leaving a trail of sparks as it drove on steel rims. Police arrested the man, who was already out on bail, and found a crowbar, car theft devices and jerry cans full of fuel.
