Coalition promises historic migration cuts | 7NEWS
The Coalition has announced plans to reduce Australia’s net overseas migration to 100,000 annually for two years, then 160,000 by year four, representing a cut of 650,000 temporary visa holders over four years. The proposal includes sweeping cuts to international student numbers and halving the humanitarian intake to 10,000 places annually. Opposition Leader Angus Taylor describes it as the largest cut to immigration in Australian history, positioning the Coalition between One Nation’s more restrictive approach and Labor’s target of 225,000 by next financial year.
