America’s Pacific outpost and the banned pesticide in its water | The Pacific | ABC NEWS
Guam is one of America’s most important military outposts in the Pacific. But, last year the people of Yigo, living next to Andersen Air Force Base, were told not to drink their tap water after the banned pesticide dieldrin was found at eight times the safe limit.
Now an investigation by ‘The Margin’ has found records showing the U-S military spent years moving pesticide-contaminated soil on the base and that regulators were warned as early as 2012.
Co-host of ‘The Pacific’ Johnson Raela talks to the journalist behind the story, Hugo Hodge, about the investigation.
