What blood type is the universal donor?

O-negative is the universal blood type, meaning anyone with any blood type can receive O-neg blood.

Because of this, it’s routinely used first in emergencies or trauma, especially when there isn’t time to match someone’s blood type.

If you know you’re O-neg, or you’re not sure what blood type you are and are keen to find out, search ‘blood supply’ and book a life-saving donation at your nearest Lifeblood centre. #lifebloodau #blooddonation #donation #bloodsupply #givingblood
