WATCH: Ed Sheeran addresses Macklemore controversy during live concert
Ed Sheeran addressed the elephant in the room at the very beginning of his first concert since losing all his support acts and his backing band from his tour this week.
Rapper Macklemore had been axed from the tour due to his on-stage support for Palestine, leading to all the other support acts, and Sheeran’s own band, quitting in solidarity.
Sheeran took the stage alone at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, and addressed the crowd before his first song, reading a pre-prepared speech and becoming overcome with emotion at one point when he said he was “so grateful” to the audience for attending.
