Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has sworn at a journalist and stormed out of a press conference after being questioned about claims he had dinner with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, with the Trump Organization calling the Mayor’s account a complete fabrication, stating President Trump only briefly said hello before attending a separate dinner. Queensland Parliament is examining new laws to keep the state’s most violent criminals locked up for longer, with proposed legislation requiring anyone serving a life sentence to wait an additional 10 years before applying for parole.
