‘It’s backfiring’: Labor’s blunt tax policy continues to hurt those who’ve ‘scrimped and saved’

Women’s Forum Australia Head of Advocacy Stephanie Bastiaan says Labor’s tax policies are using “blunt policy force” to fix a 30-year problem and it’s “backfiring”.

“They pitched it as helping young people get into their homes, but it’s actually hurting the people that have scrimped and saved and got into the market,” Ms Bastiaan told News24 host Peta Credlin.

“If the government was serious about getting young people, middle-income earners into homes, they should be cutting the costs of building; they should be cutting the red tape; they should be cutting the taxes associated with it.

“But they’re not doing that because they’re addicted to spending.

“Instead they’re using this blunt policy force to fix a 30-year problem, and it’s backfiring.”
