Fire destroys 50 electric postie bikes at Adelaide depot | 7NEWS
A fire at an Australia Post depot in Adelaide’s northern suburbs destroyed approximately 50 electric postie bikes and caused significant structural damage to the facility. The lithium-ion batteries powering the e-bikes intensified the blaze, which required more than a dozen fire trucks and over an hour to control, with firefighters forced to retreat when the roof collapsed. Fire investigators are examining whether a spark from one of the bike batteries may have started the fire, while posties have been left to deliver mail on foot.
