Rescue efforts underway in Nepal and China following deadly flash flood

Rescuers are searching for survivors following a flash flood that has killed at least 359 people and left more than 1,000 missing in Nepal and China after a glacier collapsed into a mountain river.

Footage of Nepal’s Nuwakot district shows entire streets and buildings submerged in mud and silt.

Authorities have been using helicopters to search for survivors and drop emergency supplies into cut-off regions.

Preliminary analysis of satellite imagery suggests the river has been blocked, with a lake forming at the flood site, prompting authorities to warn of potential new floods.
