The US Vice President, JD Vance, says he is “optimistic” about the future of the 20-point peace proposal in Gaza after touching down in Israel overnight.

Plans for a summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have been put on hold after Moscow made clear it would not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine.

Anthony Albanese has concluded his lightning visit to the United States – leaving Washington DC this morning – with declarations the alliance is in good health.
