‘Serious concern’: Several elections across the US see ‘Democratic landslides’, Republican losses
US political commentator Larry Sabato analyses the recent elections in the US this week which saw Democrats claim victory in several states.
Democrats saw wins in New York City, New Jersey, and Virginia in the first repudiation of US President Donald Trump at the ballot box.
“The normal part is that yes, the off, off-year elections a year after a president is sworn in normally goes against the president’s party,” Mr Sabato told Sky News Australia.
“What’s different about this is that it didn’t just go against it; it was a landslide, it was a Democratic landslide in all of the elections.
“There’s serious concern, mainly because of continued inflation and the affordability crisis.”
