Mark Carney apologises to Donald Trump over anti-tariff ad
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has apologised to US President Donald Trump for the anti-tariff television ad released by the Ontario government.
The ad, which President Trump has labelled “fake”, features former president Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about tariffs.
Mr Carney claims he viewed the ad before it aired and told Ontario Premier Doug Ford not to run it.
“(The) President was offended by the act – or the ad rather – and it’s not something I would have done … and so I apologised to him,” he said.
