Cyclone Mitchell likely to remain category 3 before landfall in WA | ABC NEWS
Tropical Cyclone Mitchell is sweeping along the north-western coast of Western Australia and is expected maintain its status as a category 3 before making landfall. There had previously been fears the system could strengthen to a category 4, but the Bureau of Meteorology says it’s unlikely.
The storm is bringing powerful winds and heavy rain to communities in the Pilbara and Gascoyne regions.
ABC reporter Macey Turner says Exmouth locals are ‘relaxed’ and well-prepared for the storm’s arrival.
