Australia’s sunscreen scandal expands amid SPF misrepresentation concern

Australia’s sunscreen scandal is growing as more brands face scrutiny over SPF claims.

Multiple products were recalled after tests revealed their SPF performance is significantly lower than advertised.

Ultraviolet’s Lean Screen initially claimed to have an SPF of 50-plus but was found to have an actual SPF of just four.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration is now investigating 21 sunscreens sharing a base formula and questioning the validity of testing procedures used by a UK lab.
